Art... the Creative Experience
Art classes at the School of Fine Arts remain some of the most popular in the area. There is a full palette: clay, watercolor, drawing, oil and acrylic painting and ceramics.
Other innovative offerings include classes in cartooning, calligraphy, new crafting techniques and screen printing. A highly talented staff of instructors is continually augmenting their curriculum to include new classes.
Classes for all ages are offered so everyone can benefit.

Movement and Rhythm in Dance
From the disciplined beauty of ballet to the staccato click of the taps and dynamics of jazz, dance has remained one of the strongest disciplines at the School of Fine Arts. Study at Fine Arts has enabled many of its students to pursue higher education at prestigious schools of dance and to begin a career as a dancer. The Fine Arts staff is indeed more than qualified to lead in such training. The School's dance department provides a learning environment where students receive the care and attention needed to become professional, self-confident dancers, in addition to acquiring an appreciation of dance as an art form.
Our dance curriculum now also offers fitness programs in Pilates and Yoga for a lifetime of health and happiness.
WHEN THE CURTAIN GOES UP
Dance performances play an important role in the School. Students eagerly
await their turn to pirouette on stage in front of parents and supporters.
Performing opportunities not only give experience to the future dancer,
they give confidence and enjoyment to all students.

A Place for the Enrichment of Music
Piano playing actually helps to develop the left side of the brain - the side with analytical and math skills. The right side of the brain, linked with creative and artistic cognition, also benefits greatly. University studies have actually proven this musical power, and we at the School of Fine Arts wholeheartedly believe it.
Our highly trained music instructors offer private music lessons in piano, brass, guitar, percussion, voice, woodwinds and strings. The lessons are fun and intensive, including opportunities to perform as a soloist or as an ensemble member. Our faculty members are experts in their fields, staying fresh on the performing circuit as well. Many hold a Masters degree and some even possess doctorates in their music profession. In addition to traditional music training, the school also offers the Suzuki method of violin, viola, cello and piano training, a renowned method of study which has produced many fine professionals.
Recitals
Whether you are a closet guitar player or an avid performer, recitals may
be for you. Students are afforded the opportunity to perform during
various events throughout the year, and the faculty themselves perform
in a full season of concerts each year. Recitals give the student
encouragement and practical experience for futures in the performing
arts. Our student orchestras, flute choir and Starz Show
Choir all provide musicians the opportunity to join together in
harmony.

The Power and Electricity of the Stage
From the exuberance of A Chorus Line to the passion of
Missionaries, the Fine Arts stage is electric with drama. Each
season, talented casts bring a full gamut of musicals, dramas and comedies
to the 250-seat Corning Auditorium. The comedy is fabulously humorous and
the drama riveting and passionate, with both critics and audience members
praising each season's productions. Popular children's plays are also
staged each season. Broadway hits such as Charlotte's Web, The
Miracle Worker and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown have been
performed by the talented Yarnell Youth Theatre Company. Theatre
students, children through adult, explore and develop basic acting skills.
The popular Summer Theatre Arts Camp and our Young Actors
Ensemble involve intensive training in theater, music, dance and art
(set and costume design) and climax with amazing performances. Our
Chili Con Comedy Improv Troupe,
an entertaining and hilarious troupe of young actors under the
direction of Sandy Kosovich Peck perform on our Studio Stage three
times each season to delighted and growing audiences.
