Making the arts available to the community...
Community outreach is an integral part of The Fine Arts Association's mission.
The Education Department collaborates with outside organizations to create customized educational arts experiences in music, dance, drama, the visual arts and music therapy. Current partner organizations include the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools, Painesville City Schools, Lake MetroParks, City of Wickliffe/Wickliffe Middle School, Hawken School, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Peaceful Children Montessori. For information on Off-site Education Programs, contact Jeannie Fleming-Gifford, Director of Education at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Theatre for Healthy Living™
The Fine Arts Association’s Theatre for Healthy Living™ program began in 2009 and has been expanding ever since. This unique outreach effort uses the transcendent power of the arts—theatre, in this case—to not only change lives by enhancing the decision-making skills of the students we serve … but to ultimately save lives. With the assistance of our Fine Arts’ faculty, participating schools select a team of students and administrators to tailor the professional script to fit the needs of the school. Students are the actors, are taught basic theatre skills and create a theatrical presentation for their school. Topics have involved healthy choices and social issues such as bullying, alcohol and drug abuse, dating violence and suicide prevention.
Participating Schools have included:
Painesville City Schools -- Thomas Harvey High School
Painesville City Schools -- Heritage Middle School
Perry Local Schools – Perry High School
Fairport Harbor Exempted Village Schools -- Middle School
Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools – Willoughby Middle School
Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools – North High School
Ridgecliff Foundation (2011-2012)
Lake Health (2011-2012)
Martha Holden Jennings Foundation (2011- 2012)
Hershey Foundation (2010-2011)
