2012 FAA Summer Camps...

Registration for Theatre Arts Camp and Young Actors Ensemble begins after auditions.

Summer is the perfect time to get out of the house and make new friends. Fine Arts camps combine authentic, hands-on learning with fun and friends. Each camp is facilitated by Fine Arts faculty who are specialists within their arts discipline. Camp fees include all supplies. Hurry! Space in each camp is limited.

There are a limited number of scholarships available for summer camps. (Sorry, early registration incentive not applicable for Summer Camp programs.)

Hot Fun in the Summertime! If you love ALL the arts, this camp is for YOU! Each day campers rotate through classes in creative movement, music, theatre and visual arts. Campers share their camp experiences with family and friends in an informal Sharing Day on the last day of camp.
Please note: Campers should bring a lunch (no nut-based foods, please) and beverage and a mid-afternoon snack to enjoy each day.

Preschool Arts Camp (ages 3-5*)
Monday thru Friday, July 30-Aug. 3, 2012  9:30 am-noon

This camp is for the littlest munchkins. Dress them for mess and bring them ready for fun. The process of art-making is valued over product as children paint, dance, act out stories, sing and play instruments. Campers should bring a healthy snack (no nut-based foods, please) and water each day to enjoy during a short break. One plain white t-shirt should also be brought to use for an art-making project the first morning of camp.
Family and friends are invited to a Sharing Day experience the last morning of camp.
*children must be potty trained and ready to attend a program independently to attend this camp.

Theatre Camps

Theatre Arts Camp Jr. 2012 (grades K-2)

All ability levels welcome. No experience necessary
Theatre Arts Camp Jr. is their perfect introduction to the art of theatre. This camp experience, especially designed for kids in grades K-2, introduces children to a multitude of theatre techniques as the world of Dr. Seuss comes to life. In addition to working with theatre faculty, campers work with visual arts faculty to create basic costumes and props. An informal Sharing Day highlights this 6-week experience the final day of camp. Bonus! Each student receives a special TAC Jr. 2012 T-shirt! (cost included in camp fee).

Please note: Due to the age of the students, this program requires active parent participation to assist children with learning a script. Campers should bring a snack (no nut-based foods, please) and beverage to camp each day to enjoy during a short break.

Theatre Arts Camp 2012 (grades 3-12)  
Mon/Wed/Fri, June 18-July 29, 2012  9:30 am-3 pm

Detective R. R. Hood in Big Trouble in Little Fabletown
It's 48 hours before the wedding of the century and the groom has been prince-napped!
Detective R. R. Hood (Red to her friends) needs to sort through ogres, elves, knights, trolls, mice, wicked stepmothers, pied pipers, pigs, wolves, witches, fairy godmothers, beautiful monsters and ravenous princesses to solve the mystery before the king winds up with an extra princess, no groom and too much wedding food.

For more than thirty years, this fun, interactive camp has helped campers understand how the theatrical aspects of music, dance, theatre and visual art interrelate. Classes and rehearsals are designed as lessons in acting methods, dance technique/composition, voice/music skills and visual art design. Collaboration, creative problem solving and backstage protocol are also emphasized. Camp culminates with a fully staged student production the final weekend of camp. Bonus! Each student receives a special TAC 2012 T-shirt! (cost included in camp fee).

Young Actors Ensemble 2012 (grades 9-12 and 2012 high school grads)

All ability levels welcome. Previous theatre experience encouraged, but not necessary
Placement in this camp is by audition*. All ability levels welcome. Previous theatre experience encouraged, but not necessary. The student's depth of dedication to learning about the craft of theatre is considered in the selection process.

This camp is for students who want to enroll in an intensive acting study. Creativity, collaboration and discipline are emphasized as students explore the acting process in a supportive and nurturing environment. Areas of focus include acting technique, movement, ensemble work and vocal work. The Young Actors Ensemble provides a balance between studio work and performance by culminating in a showcase production. Note: this is not a musical theatre class. Bonus! Each student receives a special YAE 2012 T-shirt! (cost included in camp fee).
Placement in this camp is by audition*. All ability levels are considered. Previous theatre experience is encouraged, but not necessary. The student's depth of dedication to learning about the craft of theatre is considered in the selection process.

Visual Arts Camp

Paper, Scissors, Rock! Visual Arts Camp (ages 6-9 and 10-14) 
Tue & Thu, June 19-July 26, 2012
If you love creating, making and imagining, this camp is for you! Campers create sculptures using clay, paint and wood, paint a landscape on canvas, make sun catchers, luminaries, a garden stepping stone and so much more! Class will be conducted both indoors and outdoors on beautiful summer days. Campers should bring a snack (no nut-based foods, please) and beverage to enjoy each day. Dress for mess and come for fun! All supplies are included in the camp fee.

Music Camp

Music Makers Camp 2012 (ages 4-8) 
Tue & Thu, June 19-July 26, 2012  1-4 pm

This camp is designed for the young mover and shaker that loves music. Campers, working in age-appropriate groups, sing, move, play instruments and create as they are introduced to instrument families and explore a multitude of music genres. Guest artists join the FAA faculty to provide campers with unique, interactive musical experiences. Camp ends with a Sharing Day performance for family and friends the final day of camp.
Please note: Campers should bring a snack (no nut-based foods, please) and beverage each day to enjoy during the break.
