Scholarships and Financial Aid

Congratulations to our Scholarship Recipients!

The Fine Arts Association is dedicated to ensuring that the opportunity for arts education is available to all who desire it. Through the support of the United Way and other private funding sources, both need-based and achievement scholarships are available for qualifying students.

Gwen Yarnell Theatre Scholarship forms can be requested by calling our Customer Service Center at (440) 951-7500.  These are available to new and returning Fine Arts students who want to study theatre. (can also be applied to Theatre Arts Camp and Young Actors Ensemble.)

Achievement Scholarships are available in all curricula to current students at The Fine Arts Associaiton. For more information on Achievement Scholarships, please contact our registration staff at (440) 951-7500 or stop by our offices during regular business hours.

United Way Scholarship Guidelines
The Fine Arts Association offers a limited number of scholarships in music, art, theatre and dance for fall, spring and summer sessions to people whose income meets federal poverty guidelines. Consideration may also be given to students who are experiencing unexpected financial hardship, such as major medical bills or loss of employment. Application deadlines are strictly adhered to and recipient's regular attendance and work with the instructor are required.. (See application for session deadline dates and details.) Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be a resident of Lake County.
  2. Total family income should not exceed $18,400 annually unless there are extenuating financial circumstances, such as unusual medical expenses, unemployment, etc. First time applicants must include a copy of the first page of their most recent IRS 1040 form.
  3. FAA Achievement Scholarship recipients are not eligible for United Way Scholarships.
  4. Scholarship recipients are responsible for paying registration fees.
  5. Recipients of partial scholarships may not apply another FAA discount or special offer on the remaining tuition costs for the class or lessons for which the scholarship was granted. Balance of class tuition must be paid before the first class.
  6. In general, United Way Scholarships will be limited to one class per session or private music lessons for a specified period for each applicant.
  7. Scholarships are awarded without regard for race, sex, religion, age, disability or national origin.

  1. A United Way Scholarship application must be completed and submitted to the FAA Customer Service Center by the session deadlines. (See application for session deadline dates.) Forms are available at the FAA Customer Service Center or here (Adobe Acrobat file).
  2. Application forms must be completed by the parents/guardians of students who are dependents.

Minority Scholarship Guidelines
The Minority Scholarship Fund was created to encourage minorities to participate in the instructional programs offered by The Fine Arts Association. The scholarship committee gives priority to new students wishing to explore an interest in the arts, continuing students demonstrating a financial need and continuing students who demonstrate outstanding achievement.

Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be a resident of Lake, Geauga or Cuyahoga counties.
  2. Applicant must be a member of a minority population as defined by the Ohio Arts Council: African American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, Appalachian or Native American Indian.
  3. Applicant may apply for any on-going class, including private instruction in music, dance, theatre or art.
  4. Scholarships are limited to one year. Students may reapply each year.
  5. A midterm report will be reviewed after the first semester. Students are expected to attend lessons regularly. More than two (2) unexcused absences per semester may result in termination of scholarship and may also affect future scholarship applications.
  6. Continuing need-based scholarships are considered, including extenuating financial circumstances, such as unusual medical expenses, unemployment, etc.
