Lauren Godfrey

Strings, Suzuki

Suzuki and Traditional Violin

Lauren Godfrey is a product of the Fine Arts Association. She studied at the Fine Arts with Maurice Wolfson of the Cleveland Orchestra while she was a student at Mentor High School. She received her Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Heidelberg University. Lauren began teaching at the Fine Arts after graduation in 1978 and continued her studies at the Suzuki Institute at Ithaca College. More recently, she studied privately with Alvaro deGranda of the Cleveland Orchestra. Lauren has performed in regional orchestras and musical theater productions. She has been a member of the Lakeland Civic Orchestra for over 30 years. Lauren has a passion for teaching students of all ages. Her students’ ages range from three and a half years through adult. Some of her students are now successful violin performers, violin teachers, music therapists, and a string instrument specialist. Other students have gone on to become nurses, doctors, teachers, occupational therapists, and businessmen and women. Whether a student chooses a career in music or not, Lauren believes that music, and more specifically learning to play a musical instrument, enhances and enriches every person’s life.
