Rita Cyvas-Kliorys has knowledge of music from many different perspectives. Having received her B.A. in Piano Performance and Music Education from Cleveland State University, she is a successful pianist, organist, accompanist, teacher, composer, and conductor. She studied piano with Andrius Kuprevicius and Jonas Svedas and has attended as a plethora of seminars and workshops including those with Robert Shaw and Alice Parker. The choirs that she has directed have performed in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America and have released five sound recordings/CDs. She has been the Artistic Director of many choral festivals and is a four-time conductor at National Song Festivals in Vilnius, Lithuania, where she conducted a choir of 18,000 singers. Knowing that the reasons for learning an instrument are as unique as each individual, she likes to meet each student at their current level and create ways to help them achieve their personal goals, whether to become a professional musician, teacher or for their own personal enjoyment. Besides technique and musicality, which are certainly important, one of her main goals is to inspire each and every student to keep their love for music alive. She believes music is for all people and enjoys working with all ages and skill levels.
