This class will give students practice with various Illustration techniques and materials like collage, colored pencils, markers, watercolor and more. Students will be developing unique cartoons. Elements of comic book design will be covered as children work to communicate their ideas through their own panels and sequences. Students will get an opportunity to use Illustration to tell a simple story or convey information.

  • No digital experience needed – all skill levels welcome! Do you love creating your own characters? Do you have a big imagination and want to develop your own artistic style? This class introduces Procreate to students as a means of developing unique cartoons or using illustration to tell a simple story or convey information. Elements of comic book design will be covered as children work to communicate their ideas through their own panels and sequences. Student must provide their own iPad, with the Procreate app installed, and Apple Pencil.

– The following acrylic paint colors: Cerulean Blue, White, Ultramarine Blue, Violet, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Viridian, Red, Paynes Gray, any color orange, any dark yellow.

– An assortment of paintbrushes: ½” flat, 1” flat, ½” filbert, a fine brush for details, ¼” flat, #6 round (make sure they say “for acrylic paint” in the description). If you have additional paintbrushes, feel free to bring them.

– Kneaded eraser

– Something to use as a palette

– A tool box for all previously mentioned supplies

  • In this class students will use sewing machines to create projects out of a variety of materials. This class is open to all skill levels!
